Unfortunately for traditional Thai music and Thailand, the youth are not interested in traditional Thai music because of influence from western culture. However, efforts are being made in Thailand to preserve and revive interest in traditional Thai music.
Bussakorn, a renowned master in traditional Thai music, has suggested to the government of Thailand to make Thai music a compulsory course in schools and college rather than an optional one. Even countries like Trinidad and Tobago and Norway are doing their bit to preserve traditional Thai music. Thai music is taught to Norwegian students in an exchange program between Thailand and Norway.
