In the last few years the fashion and garment industry in Thailand has developed into a mature industry that has gained acceptance not just in Thailand but also in the world. Today, Thai fashion and garment industry accounts for 17 percent of the total Thai GDP.
Bangkok is all set to develop into a world fashion city. The government is making efforts to ensure that appropriate capital, talent, equipment and skills training is imparted to ensure that this dream becomes a reality. In fact, the government has invested more than US$60 million in the last three years to ensure that Bangkok does become the world fashion city.
Many local Thai brands are now popular in London, Singapore, Tokyo, Shanghai and Malaysia. These brands, namely Fly Now, Greyhound and Senada, are able to compete in the international arena. While brands like Tube and Good Mixer are also creating a stir in the international fashion market.
That is why there are opportunities for new investments in Thailand especially in the fashion industry which requires input to accomplish their objectives. New investments can help improve the current Thai fashion industry while paving a way to promote Thai fashion overseas and reducing the import of textiles into Thailand as the country would get self-sufficient. |
