Khao Lak Province - Thailand Province Attractions
Khao Lak is located in Phang Nga province. It takes a maximum of one hour from north of Phuket to reach Khao Lak. The climate of Khao Lak is said to be warm throughout the year. But from November to March the climate is wonderful with cool breeze flowing right through the day. From November to April, Khao Lak has an average of 26 sunny days each month.
Even during the rainy season, Khao Lak has an average of 20 sunny days per month. In rainy season heavy winds blow towards the west. During this period people are not allowed to swim and are restricted from entering the beaches. This is main reason why most hotels and resorts have a swimming pool. Normally tourists are informed that the rainy season is not the correct season for visiting Khao Lak as they will not be allowed to go to the beaches. However, this does not keep the tourists away though the number is less than other months.
There are two very hot periods of weather in Khao Lak. The first is between April and May when the average temperature ranges from 30 to 36 degrees centigrade and only the occasional tropical thunderstorm brings relief from the heat. It is also very hot between September and October but the frequent rainfall has a wonderful cooling effect.
The tourist season begins from November and lasts right till January. These three months are when most tourists go to Khao Lak and finding accommodation becomes difficult. Usually tourists book accommodation in hotels and resorts well in advance if they want to visit Khao Lak between November and January. However, the best time for tourists is from February and April. This is the period when there are less visitors and one can find good accommodation for a reasonable price. Also, the weather is perfect and the sea is at its calmest.
