Chae Son National Park

Located 68 kilometer from Lampang on the Lampang-Wag Nua Road is an interesting and beautiful tourist destination known as the Chae Son National Park.

Chae Son National Park is located on the north most part of Lampang province and it is known for its lush green forests and lofty mountains. Considered to be a major destination in Lampang for relaxation, the park covers an area of about 768 square kilometer, and is spread in three major districts of Lampang province that include Amphoe Muang, Amphoe Chae Son and Amphoe Muang Phan.

The most interesting spot is the hot water spring area located on top of the rocky terrain inside the park. These hot springs are locally called Namtok Chae Son and Namtok Mae Mon. Water in these springs has temperatures of about 73°C. The springs provide a misty and picturesque scene and this is particularly true during the morning hours. In addition, it is believed that the water from these hot water springs has healing properties. Bathing facilities are available around these springs for the convenience of tourists. One can have a dip in these waters and enjoy the feeling of being rejuvenated.

Trekking and camping is permitted inside the park. Other attractions include a number of beautiful waterfalls, mystic surroundings, and caves. Prominent among these are the Chae Sawn waterfall, Mae Mon waterfall, Mae Koon waterfall, Mae Bieg waterfall and the Pha-ngam cave.

Chae Son National Park also contains several species of flora and fauna. Wildlife inside the park include barking deer, mouse deer, Asian golden cat, rabbits, flying lemurs, skunk, bears and squirrels. The park also houses a number of bird species. Cicadas a highly prevalent in the part and are considered to be permanent inhabitants. However, they are more evident during the month of April.
