     Prasat Hin Phimai National Historical Park has a massive Angkor shrine made from white sandstone. This shrine is around 30 meters tall and is surrounded by smaller shrines, which pink in color. In the park also has the maximum number of Khmer buildings in Thailand. You can see four gateways in the compound and a number of sculptures that lead to the shrine.  More....

Wat Na Phra That 

        Nakhon Ratchasima Province is located in the northeastern part of Thailand. The provincial capital is also called Nakhon Ratchasima and is considered to be the gateway to Isan. Nakhon Ratchasima city is the third largest in Thailand and it is commonly known as Khorat or Korat, which is a shortened version for the ancient name of the city, Angkor Raj.  The is located on the western edge of the Khorat Plateau and it used to mark the boundary between the Siamese Kingdom and Laos.


        The province has many beautiful historical sites and one such site is Wat Na Phra That. This old temple is located around 4 kilometers from Pak Thong Chai District Office. It has beautiful murals from the early Rattanakosin era. In addition, the hall where the scriptures are kept, also known as Ho Trai, has a door which is carved beautifully and intricately.

        It is believed that the temple was probably built during the reign of King Rama III. The compound of the temple has structures like a pagoda, convocation hall and scripture hall. The scripture hall is present in the middle of pond and the amazing thing is that it is extremely well-preserved.

        The convocation hall has murals from early Rattanakosin era that covers nearly the entire outer front wall as well as all the four walls inside. The murals depict the story of Lord Buddha and show people paying homage to the footprint of Lord Buddha. You can see even images depicting the daily life of the locals from the past. You can see them farming and fishing.

        Right in front of the convocation is hall is a pool where the scripture hall is located. The has beautiful lacquered designs on the door and between the hall and the convocation hall is a pagoda built by migrants who came from Vientiane.
