Nunthaburi National Park

    Situated 668 kilometers from the capital city of Bangkok, Nan is a peaceful and serene province nestled in the valley of Nan River and it is surrounded by mountains that are covered with forests.

      In fact, the entire province is known as a nature’s paradise with a majority of the province being protected. One such protected area is the Nunthaburi National Park.

      Spread over an area of approximately 548,125 rai, Nunthaburi National Park includes a major portion of land in the Wangpha, Mueang ad Ban Luang districts of Nan Province. Situated on the western part of the Nan Province, this park is 300-1,674 meters above sea level and is widely known for its abundant natural resources, virgin forests and diverse habitat. In fact, this park is the source of various rivers that are prominent tourist destinations.  

     Geographically, the entire area is filled with rugged mountain ranges that extend towards north. The highest mountain inside the park is the Yod Doi Wao whose peak is located 1,674 meters above sea level. Trekking and mountaineering are the most popular activities for tourists visiting this peak.

     Another important place is the Doi Pha Chi, a beautiful mountain containing numerous waterfalls and lush natural surroundings. Apart from this there are many other attractions inside the park that include Bann Namki Artesian Hot Springs where waters are present with temperatures up to 80°C and various majestically splendid waterfalls including Doi Mark Waterfall, Huai Prig Waterfall, Santisuk Waterfall, Song Kwae waterfall and the Tad Fa Rong Waterfall. Nunthaburi National Park is also home for Pi Tong Leung Tribe. One can have a glimpse of the lifestyle and habitat of these tribal people inside these forests. However, you need to obtain permission from the park authorities in order to visit these tribes.
