About Thailand Buddy
Written by Vincent Nguyen and team. Every legal and fee fact is checked at the official Thai source and dated; sights and places cite guides and operators, also dated.
Thailand wins you over fast. A midnight bowl of noodles under the skytrain in Bangkok, the cool air on a northern mountain road, a ferry sliding out toward an island at dawn, a stranger who walked us to the right counter and asked for nothing. We love this country, and we spent a good while living here as digital nomads. We also learned the other side the hard way. We hit legal trouble, and we were scammed. Nobody had warned us, because the blogs we read had never been caught out themselves. So we write the guide we wished we had been handed: the TDAC arrival form, the 30-day rules that trip up newcomers, the fines, the traps. Plain words, from people who have paid for the lesson.
Where the facts come from
A rule is only worth passing on if you can see where it came from. Every legal rule, fee and deadline here is checked at the official Thai source, and the guide shows the date it was checked and the date it is due again. Facts about sights, islands and places cite guides, operators and maps, each with a date. When an office answers differently from the website, or nobody can say for sure, we write that down. We would rather admit a gap than fill it with a confident guess.
Who writes it, and how AI helps
- Every fee, fine, deadline and rule in a guide is traced to a source, with the exact wording kept on file.
- Legal facts rest on the legal text or a Thai government portal; agency and forum pages are never the basis for a rule.
- Each guide shows when it was last verified and when it is due for review; what could not be confirmed is listed openly.
AI does much of the research and first drafting, and it is fast at it. The editor then reads and approves every guide before it goes live, and nothing is published on a machine’s word alone. Every step, and where AI comes in, is explained on how guides are checked.
What these guides are not
They are general information, not legal advice. Thai rules and office habits change, sometimes faster than official pages do, so when a lot rides on it, go to the office concerned or a licensed adviser. We are also not an emergency service. If you are in danger or being cheated right now, call the Tourist Police on 1155.
