Koh Lipe: Ferry From Pak Bara, Tarutao Park Fee and Season

Boats from Pak Bara Pier cost THB 700 per person round trip to Ko Tarutao, and THB 1200 per person round trip to Ko Adang. Tarutao National Park is a group 2 park, so a foreign adult pays THB 200. The park is closed 16 May to 15 November.

Getting to Koh Lipe from Pak Bara

Pak Bara Pier is used for travel to Ko Tarutao, Adang and Lipe. It is the only pier in Satun Province, 60 kilometers from Satun and 10 kilometers from La-ngu District. The park lists boats to Ko Tarutao or to Ko Adang-Lipe.

The park page has no issue date, so confirm these fares and times with the boat operator.

From Hat Yai to Pak Bara

A Hat Yai to Pak Bara bus costs THB 100 per person. A taxi takes about 1 to 2 hours and costs about THB 1,500 to 1,800 per car. Air-conditioned vans also run from Hat Yai to Pak Bara.

Tarutao National Park fee

Tarutao National Park in Satun is a group 2 park. As of June 2022 a group 2 park charges a foreign adult THB 200 and a foreign child THB 100. The rates took effect on 7 June 2022. They do not include the charge for bringing a vehicle into the park.

The park in brief

The park has 51 large and small islands covering about 931,250 rai, or 1,490 square kilometers. Ko Tarutao, Ko Yang, Ko Rok Loi, Ko Lipe, Ko Hin Son and Ko Adang are among its places. Closure season

Tarutao National Park is closed to visitors from 16 May to 15 November every year and open from 16 November to 15 May. The Royal Gazette closure notice of 9 January 2026 names Ko Adang, Jabang, Ko Yang and Ko Rawi, closed from 1 June to 30 September.

Season and sea safety

The southwest monsoon covers Thailand from mid-May to mid-October. The northeast monsoon runs from about mid-October to mid-February. The south keeps heavy rain until December, and the eastern south gets more rain than the western south. The start and end of the monsoons can vary from the normal dates in any year.

The west side of southern Thailand is the Andaman Sea, and Satun is one of its six west-coast provinces. In 2001 the park recorded 594 millimeters of rain in September, 478 in October and 15 in February.

Strong waves make travel to the park dangerous in the wet period. People have drowned in strong riptides, especially during monsoon season. Passenger boats have sunk or collided, usually because of overloading, poor maintenance or rough seas in monsoon season.
