Buddhist holidays and the alcohol ban
Nobody may sell alcohol on Makha Bucha (วันมาฆบูชา), Visakha Bucha, Asarnha Bucha, or the first and last days of Buddhist Lent.

The ban falls on the Buddhist day itself. For Makha Bucha and Asarnha Bucha that is a Sunday, and the bank holiday moves to the Monday.

International airport terminals, entertainment venues, hotels and the tourist-area venues set by the Public Health Minister are exempt. Everywhere else, selling in breach carries up to 6 months in prison, a fine of up to THB 10,000, or both, as of 21 October 2026.
On other days, nobody may sell alcohol outside 11:00 to 24:00. The full rules, including drinker fines, are in the alcohol ban days guide and the alcohol sale hours guide.
